Alpha testing

Alpha builds are early, change quickly, and are for people who are happy to report problems.

Status: no alpha release has been approved for public download. Do not trust files from anywhere except the download page, and ask in the community if unsure.

  • SwizzScript
  • Native aliases
  • Themes and toolbar customization
  • Dockable workspaces
  • Windows installation
  • Crash reporting
  • Long-running reliability

Supported Windows versions

Windows 11, 64-bit, with the Microsoft WebView2 runtime (included with Windows 11). No administrator rights are needed. See Installing SwizzinIRC.

Installing

When an alpha is published, choose the installer or the portable executable on the download page and verify the SHA-256. Alpha builds may be unsigned; see the note shown with each release. Install steps, including silent install and uninstall, are in the docs.

Reporting bugs

Post in the Development category of the community forum once it is open. Include the SwizzinIRC version, Windows version, what you did, what you expected and what happened.

Collecting diagnostic information safely

  • Never post passwords, SASL or ZNC credentials, NickServ commands, or private messages. Redact them first.
  • Check screenshots and logs for server passwords, email addresses and private channel names before attaching them.
  • Include what you did, what you expected, what happened, the version number (bottom right of the window), and the text of the Server messages window around the problem. Remove anything private; never include passwords. See Connection failures.
  • For script problems, include the Console output from the Script Manager. If a script is the problem, you can start with scripts off: Starting with scripts disabled.

Known limitations

Known limitations are listed in the release notes for each published build. None are published yet.
