Portable data mode
By default the installed and portable programs share one per-user data folder:
%APPDATA%\com.swizards.swizzinirc\Appearance → Import & folder shows the folder in use, its mode (user, portable or custom) and why.
Self-contained portable data
Section titled “Self-contained portable data”- Close SwizzinIRC.
- Create an empty file named
portable.flagnext to the program. - Start SwizzinIRC. It now stores data in a
SwizzinIRC-datafolder beside the program.
Notes:
- The flag is read at start-up only.
- Nothing is moved or copied automatically. To keep existing settings, copy the contents of the per-user folder into
SwizzinIRC-datayourself. To go back, delete the flag and copy data the other way. - If the folder beside the program cannot be written to, SwizzinIRC falls back with a warning.
- The
SWIZZIN_CONFIG_DIRenvironment variable, when set, takes priority over both.
What is stored in the data folder
Section titled “What is stored in the data folder”Server profiles, aliases, themes, scripts and preferences. Passwords are not stored there; they are kept in Windows Credential Manager, so they do not travel with a portable folder.
