Debugging

Open Scripts and choose the Console tab. It shows output from:

  • swizzin.log(...) (and print(...))
  • swizzin.warn(text)
  • swizzin.error(text)
  • errors raised by your script

Console output is separate from chat windows. It is capped at 50 lines per callback, and values that look like passwords are masked.

A Luau error inside a callback is caught and written to the Console with the script name and line number. The script keeps running. After 10 failures in a row the script is stopped.

A callback that runs longer than 250 ms, or a script that exceeds its memory limit, is aborted the same way.

If a script is too slow to keep up, events beyond its queue of 256 are dropped. The Script Manager shows how many.

Actions can be refused for these reasons:

  • the permission was not approved,
  • there was no network context, or the network name matched no network or more than one,
  • the text was empty, longer than 2000 characters, or contained a line break,
  • the text looked like an authentication command,
  • the send rate limit was exceeded.

The reason appears in the Console.

A script that stays busy for 4 seconds is abandoned and marked Stopped (unresponsive). Anything it later tries to do is ignored. Fix the script and turn it on again; restart SwizzinIRC to release the abandoned thread.
