Theme recovery

The look is broken or unreadable

Use any of these:

  • Type /theme reset.
  • Press Ctrl+Shift+A and choose Reset appearance.
  • Start SwizzinIRC with --safe-theme (or set SWIZZIN_SAFE_THEME=1). The saved theme is ignored for that session.

Reset appearance restores the built-in theme, the default toolbar and default display preferences. It keeps your layout and favourite channels.

A theme shows as unusable

The message in the theme list says why, for example bad JSON, forbidden CSS, or an image that is not a real picture. Fix the file, then choose Rescan in Appearance → Import & folder.

The toolbar lost the buttons you need

Ctrl+Shift+A always opens Appearance, and the status bar has an Appearance… link that no theme can remove. From there choose Reset appearance, or Customize toolbar… and Restore original toolbar.

You deleted the default theme folder

It is re-created on the next start. The built-in copy is always available in the meantime.

A toolbar mapping was not used

The theme’s own colours still load and the built-in toolbar stays. The Themes tab shows “This theme’s toolbar mapping was not used” followed by the reason.
