SASL authentication failed (<code>): <text> |
The server rejected the account name or password. Open Edit server → Authentication, check the account name, and enter the password again |
the server completed registration without SASL authentication |
You asked for SASL but the server did not authenticate you. Check that the server supports SASL and that the profile’s account and password are correct |
this authentication method is not supported yet; use SASL PLAIN over TLS or a server password |
The profile uses a method SwizzinIRC does not offer. Choose SASL PLAIN or Server password (PASS) |
SASL PLAIN and server-password logins are supported. Other methods, such as SCRAM or certificate logins, are refused with a clear message.
Server password
Section titled “Server password”If the server answers Password incorrect, the server password in the profile is wrong. Edit the profile and enter the correct password.
Changing a saved password
Section titled “Changing a saved password”Passwords are stored in Windows Credential Manager and are not shown again. In Edit server, type the new password to replace it, or leave the box empty to keep the stored one. To remove a stored password completely, open Windows Credential Manager → Windows Credentials and delete the entry whose name ends in .SwizzinIRC.
NickServ
Section titled “NickServ”SwizzinIRC never contacts NickServ by itself. Use SASL where possible. If a network only supports NickServ IDENTIFY, use /identify with no password to open a masked prompt, or tick Identify automatically after connecting under Services in the server profile.
If you do type an identify command, SwizzinIRC sends it but never shows it, never keeps it in the window, and removes it from Up-arrow recall. Settings → Clear authentication history removes earlier lines of that kind from open windows. A password that was already sent to a server cannot be recalled; change it if it may have been exposed.
